I was wondering if either of you could post about the Sox..I've not ever been a fan of baseball so I dont know the history behind all the posts and stuff..All ive known since i been chattin was GOD is a sox fan..lol..Honest can either of you or both..post something along the lines of why this game was historical to some..and maybe something about your feelings for the team..I know i sound stupid and im sorry for it.. [img]graemlins/cry.gif[/img] ..but i really would like to hear it from one of you..not reading it on the net or anything..i want a personal feeling..please.. [img]redface.gif[/img]

Chele for me it affects me on many levels.
You prolly always hear about the "curse"....."reverse the curse" etc......
That goes way back to the time when Babe Ruth "the Bambino", was traded to the Yankee
(SPANKIES, YANKMES etc *L*)
Anyway, The sox had won their 5th world series, the most of any ball club at the time, and won this in 1918.
The owner at the time (don't know his name cuz er, i wasn't born yet *L*)decided to trade Babe Ruth to the Yankees,(in 1920?) .
He sold Babes contract for extra $ for his girlfriend , and other reasons. when push came to shove, he shoved the BABE, cuz he was making lots of $$, and sold him to the SPANKOFFS (Yankees) :-)

tho i don't really believe in the curse, it is a phrase that is always used in discussing the Red Sox and Yankees.

Ok this was already a novel but Chele u asked about the personal emotion about it.....
For me, i have watched our boys year after year , go out and give it their best.
Sometimes they didn't play well, and sometimes they did.
Even if The sox lose any game, the Beantown fans are loyal, and we remain proud of what the Red Sox represent.
If you look at the Yankees, they all f'n look like they have just stepped out of a 2 day spa, everytime they play *L*
They walk onto any field (in my opinion) like people should bow down to them, that they are above everything.
If you read alot of quotes made by their players about The red sox over the years, it shows you what they are made up of....egotistical, arrogant, and yes, even rough house players,,
Let us not forget the Don Zimmer incident, or the a-rod incident the other night.
I'm not sayin we never fought back, but it is usually defending ourselves when a SPANKIE has a temper tantrum, and goes after our ball team.
The Fans for the Yankees, .well When they statrted throwing stuff on the field the other night (cuz they were losing).....extra security had to get on the field, as they feared a riot.
I think Johnny Damon (from the sox) said it best.he said that we (the sox) are just a bunch of idiots, who go out there and play hard...
I liked that, cuz, well we aren't idiots, i took it as, we are a relaxed team, an easy going team, what u see is what u get with us.
If u look in the dug out of the yankees, you will see whoever has done real well, they kinda ^5 them or whatever......and that is great...but THE SOX.....even if we are doing badly......EVERY member of the team is cheering the player on.....they sit next to the player, they give them pep talks, and yes, they even hug.
They are a TRUE team , and are TEAM PLAYERS.
They make me proud...and to be a Boston Red Sox fan, even if they lose......is such a rewarding gift.
It's standing up for what u believe in, and
"we believe", in our team.
The rivalry shall go on forever, even if we should win the series now .
Next year, it will be the same.(with the yankees)
They hate us, we hate them.
I don't HATE or not respect people who do like the Yankees, i am saying i hate the team, and their arrogance...thinking they can just show up every year, and wait to win the world series.

When the sox lose, we DO feel their pain...we take it to heart.....but NEVER does a true Boston Red Sox fan disappear...if they do, they weren't true to begin with.
It is nice that the SOX recognize their fans....
Not sure the Evil Empire(yankees) really cares about anyone but themselves.
And on that note, my dear Chele hope this helped somewhat.....
And to anyone who likes the spankies, that is all good......and that is also yer problem..LMAO

You know...that made me get teary...i beleive the sox might just have a new fan..thank you so much..for the personal insight..I always understand things better from a real perspective instead of media facts and opinions..i wanted to hear the emotion behind it all..and the media cant give you that.. this is definately Bostons year... i didnt think it would happen..i'll admit to that.. i posted on another thread that i thought the Sox would lose... im glad they didnt... the whole Houston Astros thing didnt go so well..as some of you probably noticed... but they got past a small curse of their own by beating the Atlanta Braves...so maybe Houston will have their year sometime soon too...

fist it was historiclly(sp?) important cause no one in baseball history ever came back from being down 3-0.Only 2 teams in the 3 major sports that use that playoff format has ever done it...the 75 islanders and 54 maple leafs(heidi if you read this.the leafs still suck [img]smile.gif[/img] I think the second biggest thing out it is how it was done,and by who.The yankees have been beatin us everytime we played for something meaningful.78 bucky dent hits the homerun that knocks the sox out of the playoffs.Last year arron fuckin boone hit the biggest homerun of his life and beat the sox in game 7.The yankees were the bully that beat up the sox.This is the time that the sox finally stood up and won the fight and taken their milk money.People said no way could they beat them.Well they did.The sox play like a team.I heard on announcer say it best i think.The yankees are a collection of great players,but not a great team.
Now as to the fans.Well I think game six showed what kind of poor sport losers they are.They tried to cheat to win and got caught and they were mad.I hate the fans and cant respect any of them*L.90% of the fans are band wagoners.Ya heard so much trash talkin.Now where are they.Non to be seen.Even had one say he wasnt really ever a fan.One thing about RED SOX nation is that we are true fans.Cant say that about the yankees.

If the sox dont win the series it wont be a huge disappointment.They took one huge step.And life is all about steps.They are a team of guys who love the game for the game.And play the game like it should.Beatin the yankees is almost as great as winning the series.Onething I will say good about the yankees is that they always make it and interesting series.This series has turned non baseball fans in to watches.I bet next year people will be watchin the sox and yankees more.Why not its the most intense rivalry in sports.The only thing about it though is some people think we are obsessed and your right.But the only people who will really understand it is people from boston and new york.
The best thing is that no matter what nothing can top this except if it was for the series..but that cant happen so its the closest.Even if the did the same thing to the sox next year.The sox did it first and will always have it.I will not be afraid to admit I shed a tear watchin them celebrate on the yankees own field.I wish they had showe georges face.Would have been priceless.Ok now I am ramblin ....so i have one more thing to say....................
